When I first started to try to make money online by blogging I thought that the easiest way to do so would be to own a single, powerful blog that got thousands or tens of thousands of visitors a day. However, I soon learned that this was exceedingly more difficult in to accomplish than to envision. Today, I believe the best way to make money blogging is to operate many, smaller niche blogs. This article will discuss some of the advantages of owning many niche blogs.
Keeps you “on top” of your game. By writing about your work and the benefits of your products and services often, you will stay current and fresh. This will help in all phases of your business, but it will also help you in networking situations by giving you something fresh and new to talk about when having conversations with possible Clients and new referrals. It also gives you new ideas to share with potential Clients as you build your relationship with them.
Once you have established contact with the blog owners, the next step is to contact them and ask for them to link back to your website. For most blogs, they have something called a blogroll… a list of websites that they like and visit pretty often. First, add their blog to YOUR blogroll, inform them of the link and ask for them to link back to your website… nicely. Most bloggers don’t mind adding your blog to your blogroll, unless they are suspicious about your motives. But at the end of the day, if you started out being friendly and genuine, there should be nothing to be suspicious about.
On the other hand, I say this with a sheepish smile, since love nature are free, I set up another blog in Google for my family and friends where I simply post pictures of the family and news about them. This I have no need to be picked up by web search engines, and just pass out the URL to my kids and close friends. Which is another way to use blogs.
At the end of the day, if I have a choice between commenting on a dofollow blog and a nofollow blog, I’ll opt for the dofollow (assuming all else is equal such as PR for the respective URLs).
Jargons like Unix, CPanel, FTP, SQL databases, etc do nothing but make our heads spin in confusion. What about if you want to have dozens, hundreds or even thousands of blogs and you want to manage them?
Be proactive! The most important thing you can is to be proactively engaging your online presence. This has traditionally been done with TV and radio ads which do work. But the nice thing is you can cast a wider net for cheaper online. This can easily be done for free with things like video marketing, SEO, or paid search ads. I’m not saying to flush the traditional methods since we took full advantage of TV and it worked. But these days you gotta be thinking outside the box to make it work. And most importantly, engage and reward your online community who talk about you favorably. Creating a raving fan base is a lot simpler than one typically thinks. Things like video testimonials, online reviews, and social media sharing will make your business shine like no other before.
A blog can serve as your “Home Base” where people go to find out about you, find helpful information, laugh, reflect, share, enjoy, discover ways to solve their problems….. whatever it is you want them to do. You set the goals and parameters. Stay on top of your newly found tool and be sure to consistently update your blog, stay in touch with your followers and the sky could be the limit.
